Moana Surfrider Westin Resort      Brought to you by Panda Travel ®.

Without a doubt one of the most beautiful hotels in Hawaii is the 4-Star Moana Surfrider, recently branded a Weston Resort. The hotel is a perfect example of the fairy-tale architecture of a turn-of-the-century building. The Moana Surfrider is often referred to as the "First Lady of Waikiki" since it was the first true resort in Waikiki, built in 1901. Even the Banyan Tree in the courtyard is old, planted in 1904 and one of Hawaii's first rare trees placed on the Exceptional Tree List, protected by state law. The hotel immediately attracted the attention of the very wealthy and/or very famous who could afford the luxury of sailing across the Pacific to visit the islands of Hawaii.

Over the years, the Moana Surfrider kept its dignity, but seemed to have lost some of its luster. But then, after an award-winning renovation, the Moana was unveiled in all its splendor. Craftspeople from Europe were brought in to bring the hotel back to its original glory replacing floors, windows, the grand staircase and even going so far as to have the original carpets rewoven at great expense. From the towering columns of the porte cochere to the front veranda with its row of rocking chairs, through the stunning lobby to the back veranda where you can sit and have Afternoon Tea, it is like entering another world.

The Moana Surfrider recently completed a $17 million rejuvenation with all Tower and Diamond Wing rooms as well as corridors and elevator landings upgraded while maintaining its historical and uniquely Hawaiian elegance. The rooms now feature the Westin's Heavenly Bed® and Heavenly Bath®. As expected, all the rooms are even more elegant, very Hawaiian and beautifully decorated. Rooms in the historic Banyan Wing feature antique furnishings in oak, mahogany and rare koa woods. Amenities include complimentary daily coffee, in-room voice mail, Flat screen TV with in-room movies (in renovated rooms), mini refrigerator, hair dryer, make-up/shaving mirror, deluxe grooming products, coffee/tea maker with complimentary coffee and tea in the Tower and Historic Buildings (morning coffee available for guests of Diamond Wing), internet access (fee), complimentary safe and more.

From now until about July 2007, the beautiful Banyan Veranda on the oceanside will be transformed into a world class restaurant with a new look, but will still maintain the ambiance of dining on the veranda that has made this such a popular place for a wonderful afternoon tea or evening dining. The Beachside Café features not only good food, but breathtaking views of Waikiki Beach. They feature both a buffet and ala carte service for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Banyan Court features tropical beverages and appetizers with entertainment nightly 6 to 9 pm with hula dancers and a steel guitar trio - great place to be to watch the sunset. The oceanfront The Beach Bar is open from 10:30 am to 12 am with hot grilled appetizers available from opening to 10 pm.
